Periodic Inspection
A good electrical maintenance regime includes:
- a formal visual inspection by a competent person with a greater level of with electrical appliances
- testing should be carried using the correct equipment
- knowledge and experience of how to use the test equipment and understand the results
- out at regular intervals for items of heavy use
- label tested equipment and keep records

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition.
